Many of the single-parent-scholars on THE SHO network had expressed to us their concerns about their finances as single-parents who are also going to school: i.e. “I want to go back to school, but I’m a single parent, how can I afford it?” “I’m a single-parent, I’m in school, and I’m struggling financially, what can I do to change this, without dropping out of school?” etc. They wanted to take charge of their finances, and be smart about their money… So we called upon Brian Smith, a financial literacy adviser, for help.

Mr. Smith gives a series of financial education workshops, FREE of charge, to single-parent-scholars signed up on our network. Mr. Smith is very passionate about improving financial literacy within Montreal, and has done many workshops within Montreal on behalf of Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi de Côte-des-Neiges and the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education.

As financial literacy is something that cannot be taught overnight, there are a series of workshops.

To take part in these FREE workshops, individuals must be single-parents and  students (or interested in becoming students), and must be signed up on THE SHO NETWORK (to sign-up on The SHO Network, please click this link: http://www.stronghinkson.com/forms/join-the-sho-network/ – THERE IS NO COST TO BE A PART OF THE NETWORK ).

The first workshop takes place on Thursday, May 17, 2018.
